By Jay A. Graybeal

You are invited to attend the Historical Society of Carroll County's 4th Annual Mardi Gras Ball, to be held at Wilhelm Ltd. Caterers on Saturday, February 22, 1997

1997 Ball Chair Molly McEvoy and her dynamic committee have planned a festive evening of fun, good food and live music A new feature for this year's ball will be a special recognition of a person, place, business or industry which has made a long term contribution to the community. This year the Mardi Gras Committee has selected Carroll County's Banking industry. Attending members of the banking community will be recognized and we will hear some interesting local banking history stories researched by Society Director Jay Graybeal. We will also crown a Mardi Gras King and Queen from this group.

A served dinner consists of sumptuous New Orleans style cuisine and dance music will be provided by Zim Zemarel's six piece ensemble. Other live entertainment will be by street performers including a magician, balloon artist and a juggler. Ball guests are encouraged to dress in costume for the evening. Decorative masks will be provided at the dinner. After dinner King Rex will lead a parade of costumed guests and judges will award prizes to the winners. Reservations are $55 for members and $60 for non-members and can be made by calling the Historical Society at (410) 848-6494. If you can not attend the Ball but would like to help, please consider becoming a patron and have your name printed in the souvenir program.
